Living in China
Shanghai old and new together.
Our training centers are located in major cities in China. The initial center is in the bustling business center of Shanghai. With a population of over 17 million, Shanghai is striving to be the first bi-lingual city in China. Every sign, every store front and every street has both Chinese and English translations. Most educated Chinese here can read and write English, they just can't speak it. Our centers are very large and are state of the art facilities, making it and easy environment to work in. They are also in locations that have mass transit within easy walking distance.
The PuDong district is the newest section of the city.
Living in China is very different from living in the US. First of all, you can negotiate almost anything, The Chinese expect you to ask for a lower price. An average cab ride should cost you about $.50US. You can eat very well on $8.00US per day. Our teachers get a place to live for free, so your money goes far. Shanghai is more expensive then other cities, but it still is a very big bargain. Shanghai also has several English speaking channels on their television.
A native Chinese teacher in China will earn less then $400US per month.
It is easy to travel by train, and there are many historical sites and areas of interest within a days train ride, but Shanghai itself is loaded with points of interest.
