Today, in the United States, small businesses account for almost 50% of the GNP. Many people are leaving their corporate positions and starting small niche businesses. While many are experts in one or more business functions, they all soon find out that running a business is very demanding and requires a wider range of expertise than they possess.

A recent study by the US government reported that 94% of new businesses fail before five years. This is due primarily to lack of management expertise. As head of a small business, there is no one to turn to for help. No one but Hawthorn Consultants. This business was founded in 1999, after Jerry Kubicki had spent more then 30 years in corporate life. The HCI goal has always been the same – “help businesses to be more profitable”.
